Welcome to the Island Literary Awards home page!

The Island Literary Awards in 2020 and 2021 were truly unique in many ways!

With the world still in the full throes of a global pandemic, the ILA Committee had to make the decision to reach out of our comfort zone and produce online versions of both the Island Literary Awards - given out every two years for deserving publications, and with the support of the Dept of Education & Lifelong Learning.

Thank you again to all of our finalists, semi-finalists and guests who made the last two years extra special!

The 35th Island Literary Awards: Call for Submissions are now open!
The 35th annual Island Literary Awards gala ceremony will take place in May of 2022. Submission fees apply in all categories

As a registered charity, the PEI Writers Guild and the Island Literary Awards Committee have continually strived to raise funds in order to create new ILA categories that better represent and recognize the diverse voices of Islanders. In 2020 the ILA's introduced the Scott Parsons Literary Award, recognizing writing contributed by a member of PEI’s BIPOC communities, as well as a Newcomers to Canada Award.

In 2022, the ILA’s will continue to focus on celebrating Island voices by introducing new awards recognizing PEI’s Francophone communities, as well as our 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
